Kindle TV Details Unveiled

Kindle TV Details Unveiled

Today plans for a brand new evolution in eBook reading were unveiled with news of the Kindle TV.

With the resounding success of the latest generation Kindle 3, the new Kindle TV is well positioned to become a major feature of the modern home, replacing the standard TV set with something far more wholesome and educational.

Utilising the very latest 50" E Ink Pearl screen the huge screen is capable of displaying ultra crisp text and images in up to 16 shades of grey and comes with its very own Kindle remote making swift page turns possible without leaving your armchair. For large families, there is a split screen set up option meaning that mum, dad and the kids can all enjoy their favourite book at their own pace. The Kindle TV is supplied with a handy stand or can be wall mounted for the ultimate in chic.

Kindle TV in the home

It's a well known fact that watching TV all day is bad for you and that you would be far better off reading a book instead. Now with the Kindle TV, social reading is more accessible than ever. With a built in wireless connection and 3G (on selected models) the world of entertainment and news is at your fingertips - imagine relaxing on the sofa and being able to read the latest news headlines from the BBC direct on a large screen, all at the touch of a button.

For the more romantic minded, there is nothing better than snuggling up with a cup of tea to read the latest rom-com together and what's more, friction over reading speeds will quickly let you know when a relationship is doomed to fail.

For evening reading, the Kindle TV Lighted Cover is available as an option. Utilising a similar style to its smaller cousin, the Lighted Cover features not one, but two retractable ultra bright LED lights which means that even in the dimmest lighting conditions you will still be able to see and read quite a lot of the screen. When you are finished reading, the cover simply zips up and protects the Kindle TV from damage, scratches and spills. The lights draw power directly from the Kindle TV*, so there is no need for a separate power supply. (* may cause Kindle TV to crash or reboot)

All the latest technology

Even with home technology constantly changing, the Kindle TV is no slouch when it comes to the latest gadgets and gimmicks.

3D Ready

The Kindle TV 50" Screen is fully 3D eBook Ready and comes with the very latest Active 3D glasses. Once you open a 3D enabled eBook you will see text so vivid* that you feel like you could reach out and touch each word almost like being there in the text. (* reading 3D text for long periods could damage your eyesight or give you severe migrane, page turns could cause 3rd dimension and or physical universe to collapse when text inverts )

Motion Controller

With a built-in motion sensor, the Kindle TV brings a whole new level of effort to reading allowing you to turn page after page by gesture alone. As the Kindle TV utilises such a large screen, turning a page requires a huge amount of 'virtual' effort and is a great form of excersise for bookish types. The Kindle TV also comes pre-loaded with Kindle Sports, a collection of sports commentary transcripts which can be acted out in real time in front of the impassive motion sensor.

Welcome to the world of multi-player gaming

You may be forgiven for thinking that reading is a boring and lonely exercise reserved for spectacle wearers and the socially challenged but with Kindle TV you couldn't be further from the truth. Supporting up to eight Kindle Remotes and up to eight books on-screen at one time, Kindle TV is the games console of your dreams.

Introducing Super Shakespeare Party

This stunning game is available for the Kindle TV right now and provides dramatic entertainment for all the family. With lines for all of your favourite Shakespeare characters, from the jovial Falstaff to the fiendish Lady Macbeth and up to 8 people split-screen there's no better way to have a fun-filled party. For solo players, scripts are enlarged for easier reading meaning that you could have Richard the Thirds filling the whole of the screen.

Kindle TV in the Community

Not satisfied with simply being a revolution in the home, the Kindle TV is also being tested in social environments such as pubs and bars with the aim of replacing the traditional pub projector or widescreen TV. Imagine a world where instead of nipping down your local to watch the cup final you could read it instead. Yes, you heard right - Kindle TV is currently negotiating with major sports broadcasters to bring text commentaries for all of the big games directly to the screen in real time. If you're like me and always get stuck at the back of the bar having to squint to make out the players, all text commentaries will be text-to-speech enabled meaning that even if you can't see the text, you will be able to hear it in any one of two robotic voices.

Very good indeedy .... must have taken you ages to put this together Smile

I especially like the 3D feature .... does this mean we will finally get explanatory 3D diagrammes included within erotica ebooks? It would surely spice up the kindle reading experience for the current Mrs daveb and myself Whistle

Yours, in anticipation, Dave B.
