What I Read

Truly Dreadful...and best avoided :((

There is so little time and so many books to read and yet the truly memorable books are few in number Confused More often than not I read a book having followed the amazon recommendations and I find to my utter dispair and disappointment that the contents are woeful, the characterization abysmal and the storyline non existant. So starting of my most recent and horrible book ladies and gentleman do not read Lost Souls by Neil White I list below my amazon review of this book:
I am a great reader of crime fiction and had high hopes for this well recommended book...boy was I wrong. It is just plain predictable and boring with shallow characters and by the time I reached the end I had hoped the killer might have dispensed with all the main players as they richly deserved a timely and miserable exit. I am amazed that I managed to finish...but no matter how good or bad the read, I always like to see through to the bitter end...I was so glad when I reached the last page. So forget all the other reviews this is plain awful writing of the hightest degree!!....do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for some good crime fiction...Michael Robotham and "Shatter" comes to mind....probably the best crime novel in the world!!!!

RE: Truly Dreadful...and best avoided :((

The blurb of Lost Souls does make it sound rather violent, so not my taste - but then books are a matter of taste. Yesterday I read a one star review on Not What She Seems, which said it was 'rubbish'. I looked up the reviewer's other review; she'd opined that was rubbish too.

Now, Victorine Lieske's book has sold 100,000 plus in America. What the reviewer meant was that she hadn't enjoyed the book. It can't be worthless if so many readers have liked it.
