What I Read

The Alchemist

Just read The Alchemist (in paper form - sorry) tonight. I realise that I'm one of the last people in the known universe to have read it but I can see why it has been so popular. A tale simply told, hardly an adjective in sight and yet quite enthralling. I suppose it's a lesson for all would be authors - the story's the thing.

RE: The Alchemist

i havent read it at all, so your not the last person on the planet lol. I tend to ignore the books that have all the hype - although I am a huge harry potter fan, so I guess I should retract that comment LOL.

So its defo worth a read?

What I Read

RE: The Alchemist

I have read The Alchemist (see above), the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (which, of course is only one book of a four part trilogy) but not Harry Potter, most of the Bible and only some of the LOTR (before I go bored with elves drinking mead in the woods).

RE: The Alchemist

I have read Ben Jonson's The Alchemist (a long time ago at school), but not Paulo Coelho's. I have only read two of the Hitch-hikers books but heard the whole lot in the proper and original format - radio (I have the complete collection on CD). I have not read any Harry Potter. I have read The Hobbit but not LOTR.

One thing is for certain, you're not going to waste much time on it as it only runs to about 170 pages. It's not the 'spiritual' experience that many seem to say it is but as a quick read that will take you back to your childhood in a 1001 Arabian Nights type of way I'd say think it is definitely worth a read.
