What I Read

We'll All Die in the Morning

Lieutenant Oliver Black is having trouble sleeping. In a few hours Four Platoon will have to climb out of their trench and assault the heavily defended German trenches 120 yards away. Black has done this twice before, and his 30-man platoon has lost 51 men between those ineffectual efforts. We'll All Die in the Morning looks at the hours leading up to a Great War push from the viewpoint of a tired, perhaps somewhat disillusioned infantry subaltern, and the men, comrades and otherwise, with whom he must interact during that night. Just released in Kindle, and available on KU. An audiobook has been completed, and should be available soon.

RE: We'll All Die in the Morning

The audiobook version of We'll All Die in the Morning is available for purchase, priced at a very reasonable £3.23 from the river people. I recorded this myself, as that's more or less what I do when I'm not writing anyway, so this becomes the 15-and-a-half audiobook I've narrated (I count my play collection as a half, since several others were also involved). I only wrote three of those. It's a pretty good story, and as the final year of the Great War Centennial is now here, seems a historically timely one. Just don't ask me which battle it is. There were several in the general time period and I can't say I've decided for sure which it is. At the platoon level, one battle is very much the same as any other. At the platoon level, you're not concerned with grand strategic considerations, you're concerned almost exclusively with simply staying alive.

All the best with sales of this, J.T. I'm going to show it to my husband as it's his sort of thing.

RE: We'll All Die in the Morning

My eldest is a CGI artist and cinema editor. He made me redo this promotional video with some changes to the colour temperature and timing, as he felt the first try looked a bit too harsh. It's still the same video, though, just a bit better looking. It's also still the same story and audiobook. We'll All Die in the Morning is a pretty good story, though I may be a bit prejudiced on that point. As I did my own audiobook narration, I suppose this serves as a plug for that as well.

RE: We'll All Die in the Morning

Just a reminder that the Kindle Unlimited free-read status for We'll All Die in the Morning will come to an end on 19th April. After that I'll be making the story available at other vendors as well. I don't expect the price to change, though, as it's really not that long.
