Reviews on Amazon UK site - possible to get them to show on other Amazon sites?

Hi,
Any ideas on this one? I have applied on a book promotion site in the US, which links to Amazon.com, to promote my book, Light And Dark - 21 Short Stories. The thing is all my reviews are on the Amazon.co.uk site, - naturally enough as the book was released in the UK - and all my sales are in the UK. However, they want to see reviews on the US site before they will promote the book.
This is a bit of a "Catch 22"  (appropriate literary allusion here!). Does anyone know of a way in which reviews of a book in one country can be seen or linked to Amazon in another country? I'm sure I've seen examples where at the bottom it is showing reviews from other countries. Any thoughts would be welcome! - Chris

I'm not the most knowledgeable to ask but UK reviewers can just log in to the .com site and leave a review there. It may or may not be possible for you to ask your reviewers to do this - I believe we should leave reviewers to do what they think fit.

My way round this would be to apply to a book promotion site that does not insist on a certain number of US reviews. There are some, but I can't remember which ones they are, sorry. It might take you some time to research all the sites and what they will and will not allow. Marketing is more time-consuming than writing it seems. Someone on here might be able to give you a list of suitable sites. If not, Google book promotion sites. I'd say beware of using anything that calls itself a book promotion tool or similar - they don't seem to me to work well and are a waste of time and effort. Just slog through each site's 'how to submit rules'.

Good luck and welcome to KUF from a fellow Kent writer!

Hi Anna,

Thanks very much for your reply and helpful thoughts. I must admit, until this cropped up it never occurred to me to ask anybody to review on a different Amazon site and, as you say, reviewers are naturally going to leave a review on the site from which they bought it. I certainly agree with you that marketing is more time consuming than writing and a lot less rewarding! The idea that you can write a book, and if it is a good one, everyone is going to buy it was very naïve of me! I will keep plugging away.

Great reviews for your books, you obviously love writing and the historical genre. Very well done from your fellow Kent writer. The Garden of England - and with the rain that we get it is no wonder!

May I ask which site you have applied to? A lot of sites will let you put a UK link on the submission form, irrespective of whether they are in the US or not.
As for reviews showing on both sites, as Anna says, the reviewer themselves can leave a review on dot com. Too late to ask now, even if you know the reviewer.
I hope you find a way around it, Chris. Good luck.

Hi Lynda, thanks for this. It is actually Buck Books - who in their email say "we promote using Amazon.com, so that's where we need the reviews to show". I had already given a link to the UK site so Buck Books have seen the reviews,  which they seem quite happy with. I've just this minute applied an update (still being progressed) to my book details to say anyone looking for reviews go to the UK site. I wonder if that will be satisfactory to them...I hope so :-)

Many thanks for your reply.

I know that the UK site also shows the reviews from the .com site, but I haven't seen it work the other way round. It's disappointing to have several good reviews for a book on one site, and none on the others Sad.

I think you are right Jan, I vaguely thought I had seen reviews from the US site on the UK site for some things. Perhaps it is something that Amazon will rectify for the future.
