Looking for reviews for very funny new e-book

This post was last modified: 27 Jul 2017 03:20 PM by eddieo.
Hi,

Ok, no reviews required.

Just looking for readers now. If you want the free manuscript in a word doc, please send me a direct message and I'll let you have a copy.

Maybe you'll like it enough to tell other people and the word will spread.

What do you have to lose?

If you don't like it after fifty pages, then delete it.

Kind regards

Me

Fat Jimmy is a cynical, young comedian and writer, who desperately wants to make it to the big time.
He loves women; he loves booze and he loves comedy. He is sweary and controversial, but always funny and always memorable.

My first two e-books are self-published on Amazon. My YA novel, “Millie Hardiman and the Red Parrot Fever” has an average score of 4 out of 5 on Goodreads.

Please send a message to me if you are interested and I can send you a Word or PDF file with the manuscript.

Always original and unique, never afraid to push boundaries, Fat Jimmy and the Blind Ballerina is both wildly funny and deeply imaginative. The story of a man whose dream is to reach the top in the comedy industry and impress others, this book is full of shocking wit, determination and of course, its controversial humor that would give even Seth McFarlane a run for his money. It's a story full of great characters, a captivating plot and powerful themes of never giving up no matter what anybody e Always original and unique, never afraid to push boundaries, Fat Jimmy and the Blind Ballerina is both wildly funny and deeply imaginative. The story of self-search, self-maintainance and self-sustenance in the most crulest of the businesses - showbusiness!

The portrait of a young man,  Fat Jimmy Punchinello on his course of "making it" or "breaking it" in the showbusiness, as a stand-up comedian. His journey is filled with life experiences that will make him stronger, dilligent and driven as he develops and bluntly spits sarcastic and cynical humorous comments and insights about family, (non)relationships, women, friends, sex, and generally life itself.

This was in fact a lot different than my usual reads. It's contemporary but it's definitely not a romance LOL, it's almost like an biography with introspective aspects on certain parts of life and the "drives/urges/dreams" that make us whole along the way...it's about the path itself, and this story is like everyone else's, more or less real, more or less true but its genuine and raw...and authentic.

This is the second book I have read by this author and I find it also different in an approach to the certain subjects and aspects of life, it's filled with a specific sort of humor that I believe many won't be able to relate to...cause the humor is cynical and sarcastic and sometimes you have a feeling it's also condescending in some way, but I liked it. It was different and refershing even though, I didn't like the main character, Fat Jimmy, per se. He's a guy you would either walk by without noticing him or you'd look at him with a "roll eye" but he's also a guy who's is masking himself behind this sarcasm and raw cynicism as he's just like anyone else in the world - a person with a dream. A person that wants to find his own place under the sun...

and regarding the reference of the Blind ballerina in the title - she does in fact represent a metaphor for the self-achievement and self-fulfillment inspite having an impaired disability...as she's not perfect per se....as non of us are...but that doesn't makes us impaired to the "wants" and "goals" and "drives" towards success!
Quote: I thought about The Blind Ballerina, now at home in France. I hoped that she’d find the family and the happiness that she’d always wanted.

I received an ARC of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review. Thank you Eddie Owens!

When I first began this book, I didn't know what to expect. Having read Owens' previous book, this one came almost as a shocker, in a good way. It was crass, unfiltered, bold, original, and refreshing. Oh and bloody hilarious.

Fat Jimmy is an aspiring star who hasn't been recognized on the comedic scene like he'd want to. He's a frequent drinker, smoker, ladies man, and well as the name suggests, overweight. His jokes are offensive yet funny. His fictional "biographical"-like novel (and I use biographical very loosely here) is unlike anything I've ever read before. In what universe would that kind of main character be interesting, right? Well Owens has succeeded with flying colours. I was captivated my Fat Jimmy's story, and kept wondering where his career (or lack thereof) would take him.

I agree wholeheartedly with the ending of the book, and think the other alternative would've just felt off and wrong.

This story is uplifting and really pushes you to work to achieve your dreams; to denounce the wrong in the world. This story also demonstrates that being a people pleaser isn't always the best thing. You need to stand up for what you believe in and always be yourself.

Thanks again Eddie Owens! ...more
