Starting a Kindle Paperwhite

Both my wife and myself have Kindle Paperwhites.  Mine is version 5 with a August case and hers version 7 with Forefront case.  With hers she can open the case and the screen comes on to a screen saver. She then swipes the screen and she's in to her book.  With mine I have to start it using the button on the base.  Does anyone know if this is a function of the case or the different versions of the paperwhite

RE: Starting a Kindle Paperwhite

Is there a magnet to keep the case closed?
Mine doesn't even open to a screensaver, but directly onto the page I am reading. Think mine's the latest gen, 18 months old. Can't comment for older ones. sorry.

Both appear to have magnets in the case to utilise the 'sleep/wake' function. Perhaps the magnet in your case is too weak. Or does your Kindle have ads (aka as special offers), as you need to unsubscribe from the special offers to wake the Kindle automatically (at least I think that is the case).
