Character Name Generator

This post was last modified: 31 Mar 2017 02:54 PM by Rosen Trevithick.
I've created this character name generator: https://www.name-generator.org.uk/character/

It's just for fun really, but you might find it provides a little inspiration now and then.

It uses data from elsewhere on the web so could well generate unexpected results. If you find any bugs, please let me know.

Could be useful. I always look at popular names by birth date but this throws more into the mix.

The birth year popularity used in the algorithms is from the UK and US, so anybody wanting a name that was popular in Kuala Lumpur in 1782 might be disappointed, but it should generate something sensible for the majority of needs.

RE: Character Name Generator

It's fun to use and will make a change from using names from my family tree or (for stories set in the present day) from my son's class at school. Anyone who has read a few of my mystery novels may be amused to hear that there were Italian twins, one called Giancarlo, at our local primary school in an Edinburgh suburb.

That reminds me of the "Doctor Who" episodes with the thoroughly Scottish actors Peter Capaldi and Michelle Gomez. Smile It's often not a useful idea to make assumptions based on surnames.
