Kindle Fire Text to Speech has stopped working
Now, that all maybe unconnected to the real problem she has now found when she has started to re-use it; now it does not read to her as it used to, so she cannot use it. The UK 0800 help number she used when she first had it (and it overheated from new) is no longer active just an unhelpful mesage telling you to go the the Amazon.uk homepage; which is not very helpfull for someone who cannot read or write (compliance with the UK Disability Discrimination Act etc. anyone? ), anyway I looked at the so-called help pages and found it of no help in this case.
To explain a bit more, if you double tap on the upper centre part of the page the 'start to play bar' (for lack of a better description.....) appears at the bottom of the page, you tap on the sideways triangle to start playing and that changes to the pause symbol but nothing actually happens. Yes the volume is turned up! From memory I think I remember it used to highlight the text as it read it, which does not occur now.
I have tried to re-boot (holding power button in for 40 seconds) but that did not help, checking that the text to speech is turned on in settings shows that it is. I realise (remembered) not all books are text to speech enabled but she has tried on books that she has had it read to her before.
So I throw ourselves at the mercy of this forum to help resolve, whatevery simple thing it is we are doing wrong!
