Song lyrics
Am I allowed to quote song lyrics as a piece of front matter if I credit the artist directly after?
Thanks in advance!

RE: Song lyricsIn reality, the chances of a self-published author being sued by a music publisher for breach of copyright are super-small. But if someone tells on you (I believe that is the correct legal term), you could be given detention (more legalese, sorry). |

David is right. In short, if your book becomes a hit, you could be in trouble. A song title is OK.Think hard about the value the lyrics add. It may not be as much as you think. |
RE: Song lyricsIt's about four lines of a song and encapsulates the theme of my book perfectly but I won't bother as I intend for my book to hit the big time, and it will be well-known in all the famous circles... and so I will certainly be open to high-profile law suits. Ahem. |
