Anybody know the going rate for copywriting?

Do you know how much people using pay copywriters for a 2,000 word article on something fairly straight forward, please?

I'll have a look at my notes and see if it says anything. I've got loads of stuff on copy writing having started the course, but I have a feeling it may vary and not really be a set sum. However, if I can find what the course says I may be able to find a roundabout figure.

Put another way, how much would authors on here charge to write 2,000 words on something they already know, but that requires a little fact checking and reference creating?

Useful site, Stu.

But check them out carefully, Rosen. One featured copywriter says he has the 'obigatory (sic) BA in English'. Oh dear. Looks a nice sort of fella though.

RE: Anybody know the going rate for copywriting?

I'd say that as a very rough guide, between 1p and 2p per word would work, considering this would be for a general audience. That means a 2000-word article would be between £20 and £40. Enough to make it worthwhile for the writer, but not so expensive you'd need a huge budget for it.

That seems to be a very good rate. You might have a Kuffer queue forming.

We write fiction, in the main! I doubt you'd want too much 'Once upon a time' in your article.

Fiction writers would be well suited to the kind of technical writing I have in mind.
