RE: Olympic Games, Rio 2016

I've been enjoying the rugby 7s, which makes great TV viewing. I'm beginning to sense a gold medal, if the ladies can get past New Zealand.

I don't have TV, and am generally ignorant of sports happenings, but the success of our rugby 7s has been impossible *not* to hear about. Smile Only the Aussies to get past now - never an easy task. But they've already done super-well.

I'm also following the equestrian events, as they're close to my heart. Our wonderful Mark Todd, 60 years old and still going strong!

What I Read

RE: Olympic Games, Rio 2016

I was up until 1am last night watching the mens 56kg weightlifting. The Chinese competitor did a snatch of 137kg and a clean and jerk of 170kg. And he only weighs about 56kg himself.
I couldn't believe how exciting I found it.

And Tom Daley (and the other one) have got a medal. Blimey there's a sport with very little material Big Grin Mind you the weighlifters' outfits don't leave much to the imagination. And the amount of times they knocked their willies whilst raising the bar!!!!! I swear the one of them didn't manage it as his willy was too big Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin

So disappointed for the Kiwi equestrians. After an excellent cross-country round for the team, Mark Todd had a bad run in show jumping, and the team ended in fourth place, Yet another medal would have been wonderful for Mark at his eighth Olympics.

Having to co-operate with another sentient creature, one that weighs hundreds of kgs, is one of the things that makes equestrian a very special sort of sport. Smile

Great game of rugby 7s by Fiji last night. The GB team appears to have been outsmarted by a team that decided to play the game like netball, in passing whilst on their feet and refusing to go to ground, instead of the sort of rucking game GB are used to.

Huge celebrations in Fiji, by all accounts. It's their first-ever Olympic medal, and in a sport that's super-popular there.

Great day of rowing today. And some nail-biting tennis.

Who is Monica Puig of Puerto Rico? Why have I never heard of her on the tennis circuit? She's only gone and won Puerto Rico's first gold medal. Great game. Well done.
But more importantly, what are the hygiene protocols about handling a sweaty tennis ball that another player has just pulled from their Knickers?
