HEEEEEELP PLEEEEEASE!

Hi. Now that I've finished my debut e novel I wish to publish on amazon. Could some kind soul please post a link to the place I need to register/publish my book? I don't have an account with amazon.
Please forgive my ignorance regarding such matters but in all honesty I am bewildered by most things electronic!

It's taken me about a month & much head scratching to figure out how to create a hyperlinked ToC - I only managed that after looking on you tube for a 'dummies guide to'!

Thanks in advance.

Hold fire for a minute before you rush through the KDP process. There's a lot more to e-publishing than just uploading - if you want people to find and buy your book anyway.

Before you hit publish you'll want to line up:
1. Your artwork (cover, banner ads, social media imagery, author profile photo, etc).
2. Your category and keyword choices. Amazon's category system is massively important for being seen, and for telling readers what kind of book you're selling.
3. Your pricing strategy (and how that aligns with your goals as an author; are you looking to push more copies, make more money, or do you want to position yourself as a premium option within the market?).
4. Your web presence - social media profiles, your website, your author email address.
5. Your promotional and marketing strategies. How are you going to tell people your book exists? Who is your market? Where do they hang out? Are you giving out review copies?

All that assumes you've got a ready for market book already. Have you used editors, alpha/ beta readers, critique partners, proofreaders, etc? Is the novel as perfect as it is going to be?

Then there are a myriad of other questions: are you going Amazon exclusive? Will you be releasing a print-on-demand paperback to accompany it? Have you tested your files on a few devices to make sure they work?

The uploading is the simple bit. It's what comes after that which will influence success or failure in the kindle store.

Don’t worry SteeBee, you aren’t the only one to struggle with the how-to of uploading a book to Amazon. Tim has given you the link and once you’ve signed up you will find it surprisingly easy. It is even possible to simply upload a Word document of your book and the Kindle conversion process will make it suitable for eReaders and tablets, and you can check the format is OK using the KDP online previewer as part of the process.

Best of all, if you do make any mistakes (most of us do at some point) you can edit it out and upload your corrected version at any time after publication.

Campbell’s advise above is good, but there is also no need to worry if you don’t have a cover ready as the Kindle Cover Creator enables authors to create professional-looking covers using either a picture of your own or one of the stock photos. Again, you can change your cover at any time after publication if you decide it isn’t having the effect you hoped for.

For anyone who finds producing a Table of Contents a chore, it is possible to go Draft2Digital (where you can upload your manuscript to distribute it to place like Apple, Kobo and Barnes&Noble, as long as you are not in Amazon Select) and it will automatically create a functioning TofC as part of their conversion process. You can then download the formatted eBook and upload it to Amazon.

Very best of luck with your book.

RE: HEEEEEELP PLEEEEEASE!

Thank you all for your comments, they are most appreciated.
I have already got the book cover sorted out & the same goes for the description/keywords etc. However although I have already set up a blog I think I'll just take a little time out to work on it before I publish (I'll obviously include a link to that & an email address where I can then hopefully create a mailing list) As well as a very well populated forum of which I am a member I have also joined several amazon groups on facebook who allow you to publicise your work.
Although I would of course like my book to do well I am not in it with any notion of making money - it's just for the love of writing & I guess we can all identify with that same passion.
