just about to purchase Kobo aura h20....any advice?

On a previous thread I had moaned and lamented the passing of my kindle keyboard and after much thought I have decided to order a kobo aura h2o...my reasons? Well they have not actually produced the kindle I want yet? Yes the oasis looks amazing but it's almost too nice to take out! and it's bloody expensive. The one feature that really appeals to me about the aura h20 is the fact I can read in the bath without fear of ruining the device or it going all "crinkly" I accept the fact that the books are a little more inconvenient to load and need the physical connection to the computer but that is no big deal to me. I would be interested to hear thoughts from other kobo readers on the forum, from what I can see looking around the kobo books are not similar in price although the selection and offers may be slightly less than kindle/mobi. One question I have is if I buy a mobi book can I convert...easily...to epub?....or is it not worth the bother?
Going back to the kindle I will def buy another kindle when they produce the waterproof model I want. I also feel the kobo is a good buy as I wont be afraid to take it out and use on a daily basis without fear of marking or damaging.....what do you think kobo readers Smile

Here is my recently purchased Kobo Aura - and it is a little honey. I have no criticisms at all to offer, except I would love an ereader with audio and they just don't make them any more. Having said that, I might have been well advised to get the Kobo Aura H2o as my Kindle met its end when placed in a puddle in the bathroom.

If the books you bought are DRM free (on Amazon, if they are it will state in the Product Details section "Simultaneous Device Usage: Unlimited") you can easily use Calibre (https://calibre-ebook.com/) to convert from .mobi/.azw to .epub (or .kepub) to read on your Aura H2O. If the books have DRM, you have to be a) willing to remove the DRM, and b) download separate tools to do this before using Calibre to switch formats.

I've just been buying books direct from Kobo on my computer and then they appear on my Kobo ereader library if I turn the wireless on and synchronise. I've not felt the urge to put my Kindle library across, so no messing around with a wire connection to the computer. But I do still go to Amazon to read reviews if I am looking to buy a book as they are more extensive there. I like the fact I can use paypal money on Kobo rather than having to link a credit card to the account.

RE: just about to purchase Kobo aura h20....any advice?

I've just purchased a Kindle paperwhite after having the Kobo Aura HD for a couple of years. I decided to return to Kindle as I found that I was restricted by ePub books. Maybe I was just unlucky that the books I wanted were not available on ePub. I use Calibre to load books so that wasn't an issue to me though.
I was interested in the H2o but having read reviews I decided against as apparently it's very difficult to keep waterproof. The little bungs that cover the charging port don't seem effective at sealing the unit.
I'm more than happy with my Paperwhite, although I do wish that Amazon could come up with a solution to waterproof the Kindle.

thanks for that.....I actually decided to replace my kindle keyboard with a kindle keyboard from ebay and have one on the way later in the week. I suppose my heart really lies with the kindle oasis but the price is just too much....

I have a waterproof case that I'm sure only cost a few pounds.
Before that I had a zip lock bag. So the waterproofness of my kindle is sorted. And also sunscreenness Smile On hols, my hands are always greasy from sunscreen, so I needed a protective case for that.
