It's National Limerick Day!

This post was last modified: 12 May 2016 07:59 AM by Daphne.
I just heard on the BBC news that it is National Limerick Day, so over breakfast I tried to put together a Kuf-based limerick, using "kuf" as often as I could. Here's the somewhat dubious result (it is quite early in the morning and I've only had one cup of coffee!)

There is a place full of great stuff
Which is briefly referred to as Kuf
As one lurking member
With ease can remember
As he's Kuffy MacKuffer McKuf

I'm sure you band of clever writers can come up with a few more today. Points scored for trying, and no points lost for straying from the perfect limerick form.

An incredible writer call Ken,
Would occasionally pick up a pen,
And write a wee gem,
For sharing with them,
Let’s hope that he does it again… soon.

Blush

Actually, I should have waited until I'd had at least one cup of coffee.

Nice one, Ken.Smile
Anyone else going to put on their limerick-writer's hat? I like these examples of the form from Wikipedia:

The limerick packs laughs anatomical
Into space that is quite economical.
But the good ones I've seen
So seldom are clean
And the clean ones so seldom are comical

The limerick’s an art form complex
Whose contents run chiefly to sex;
It’s famous for virgins
And masculine urgin’s
And vulgar erotic effects.

A quick effort, based on four fat, woolly blobs I can see from the window:

In spring all the trees are in bud,
In winter land turns into mud.
But all year around,
Our sheep can be found,
Lazily chewing their cud.

And one inspired by my own chosen field:

This opinion's quite frequently waved:
In the past people always behaved.
But they were just as naughty
Before nineteen-forty,
Sometimes bordering on the depraved!

Lovely, Shayne - I particularly like the very pretty one about the sheep - shows that limericks can actually be poetic.

There was a great forum called KUF
With threads frequently full of chuff
Going through the motions
With daily promotions
Come on Bob, I think that's enough!
