The Shepard's Crown by Terry Pratchett

I've finally read Terry Pratchett's 'The Shepherd's Crown' and while it's not his best, it's still a welcome addition to the Discworld series:

Thanks for the review, Michael.

I'm in two minds about reading this one, although I probably will eventually. I *loved* I Shall Wear Midnight, and saw it as a fine farewell to Tiffany. Raising Steam made me sad, though - I had the same sense of lacking a sparkle that you refer to here.

I think it's still worth a read, even if it's far from his best.

I've read it and agree. I thought it was a definite improvement on Raising Steam (probably the first book of his where I just felt bored) and has an event which is very fitting for his last book).
I enjoyed the Tiffany Aching books generally but the highlights of the Discworld series for me were Jingo and Feet of Clay (I love the guards books in general). I don't think he ever reached those heights after.
