I didn't have an email, I just found out about it.
My KK was up-to-date though, so I assume as long as you are connected to wifi, you'll have it.

I didn't get notification either but my KK is on the latest update so I think it snuck in an update when I wasn't looking. I keep my wifi on all the time.

Thanks joo, I didn't know about this either. I haven't used my KK for ages, I use by fire instead, but I will plug it in tomorrow to see if it needs doing,

Thanks for mentioning this, Joo. I did get an email about it but was procrastinating. Like Sujay I have been using my Fire more than my ereader for a while, but I think the ereader is always connected - mainly because I don't know how to turn off the wi-fi - so I might be ok but this has prodded me into checking.

All done now, it wouldn't update automatically saying I already had the latest update, but when I checked it wasn't. Thanks again Joo. Smile

My kk hasn't been connected to wifi recently in fact I only ever connected it to download books.   When it started running very slowly I was lucky enough to be given a new kindle fire which I tend to use a lot of the time, or kindle app on laptop.

If I don't update the kk and don't ever connect it to wifi will  it be totally unusable in a couple of days?s

From what I've read, you'll still be able to update later, but only by connecting the kindle to your computer and manually downloading the update. Or have I read wrong?

I think Kate is right.
But you will still be able to read your books. Just not connect to download new books.
