How to Delete Empty Folders

I recently bought a Kindle Fire 7". I've downloaded several books from online sources, such as Project Gutenberg, that download into my local storage. Each download adds two new items; the file and a folder (the file is not in the folder). When I've finished reading them, I am able to delete the file, however, the corresponding folder does not delete. This means that when I want to read a book in local storage, I have to scroll down past a large number of empty folders before I reach the book files.Does anyone know how I can delete these folders?

Also, is there any way to change the name of downloaded files? Most books download with the name pg13335.mobi.luci or something, which is quite irritating.
