RE: Paperwhite versus Voyage???

Thanks to everyone who has so far posted for me. I have watched several You tube videos both comparisons and reviews alike (gotta love You tube), and I've pretty much decided to go for the PW3 and save some cash!! I'm planning to go play in Tesco tomorrow with the touch element of the PW and if I like that part then my decision is made. I really can't justify £50 for buttons and an adaptive light, the light on the PW looks fantastic and as long as I'm happy with paging forward and back with touch I don't think the buttons are worth that kind of money.
Although my KK is still in good working order I'm thinking that as this is a b/day gift (as was the last one), I might get it after Xmas and pass my KK onto my daughter who doesn't have a kindle but says she would definitely use it. I have become extremely attached to my KK & part of me is loathed to give it up, but the other part of me feels an upgrade would be a good move. Has anyone else upgraded while theirs is still working, and maybe passed on the older one or sold it? I feel kind of guilty at the thought!!

RE: Paperwhite versus Voyage???

I bought myself a PW for a birthday pressie for myself. I have lent my KK to various people to try it. I always like it back as my spare.
When I make book purchases I send it to the KK and then just pull what I need off the cloud to my PW.

When we went on a beach holiday I took both. I'd take the KK to the beach in a waterproof case and kept the PW in the room for when I had clean hands.

RE: Paperwhite versus Voyage???

Hi Joo, I had a good play with the new PW today in Tesco and I really love it, it seems very responsive and the touch turning is easy to use. I need to save a little more money before I can get mine and hubby suggested waiting till the Boxing day sales in case it drops in price at all, so that is my plan.
Thank you to everyone who helped me to make up my mind between the two models.

RE: Paperwhite versus Voyage???

Sorry to say, I now need to pay attention to a thread such as this. My Kindle with the keyboard is officially dead. I'm now trying to work out the best (and cheapest) way forward and will continue checking in for a while. I did phone Amazon and they offered a £10 reduction in price on cheaper items and 20% off more expensive with 3G (my old one had the free 3G connection and I found that really useful). It might be worth hanging in for a while to you completely pack up to try and get a similar discount offer. Good luck.
Thanks,

nigel

Just to update those who were kind enough to help me with my decision, I noticed yesterday that the Paperwhite 3 had come down in price, £99.99 without special offers & with Wifi so I ordered one, plus the pretty pink case I had my eye on and they should be with me on Wednesday!! Happy Birthday to me!! I'm super excited and when I'm all set up my eldest daughter will be gifted my KK to enjoy. I hope that she will love it as much as I have.

Just re reading this as I linked the page to a friend who is wanting to upgrade her Kindle and also has RA. So Paula if you're reading this happy choosing and I hope you find lots of helpful answers in this post and this forum, everyone here is great and so helpful. Also as an update on how I'm getting on with the PW3 I love it to death!! It goes everywhere with me, the page turn is easy and responsive, the light is fantastic and never wakes hubby!! My only problem is trying not to keep buying books when I have a bunch to read already!!

RE: Paperwhite versus Voyage???

Gilly, good to read you're still lovin your Paperwhite, and tabpillo?! The PW was a marriage saver with my wife's bedside light going on and off when she had restless nights. As we share our Amazon account, now the running joke (which I'm not allowed to bring up) is some of the "Cover Art" in the Order Confirmations which pepper my emails time to time. As it's in my name I get some of the most wonderful recommendations, 'specially after a buying spree..,Hope all's well in your world
