What I Read

The end of the world.

Well it could be for me or my paper white. I went to turn off my kindle PW and it has frozen. I have the 'turn off screen' screen but when I touched it, nothing. It has frozen. Cannot turn off with button at base, the screen light is off. The last page that I was reading is still displayed, as is the box that says ' power, cancell, restart, and screen off.
I an waiting to see what happens when the battery empties, which could take a couple of weeks maybe as I only charged it up a few days ago.
Is that it, has my kindle died?

RE: The end of the world.

Have your tried to turn off by pressing and continuing to hold the turn off button for 45 seconds or so. It can take a while for it to close down. Once it has you can restart and see if that works; if not you may have to reset which involves returning to beginning and the need to register again.
See my earlier post and problem which required a reset after a recent upgrade.
Hope that helps.
Henk.

RE: The end of the world.

Thanks for your reply, but I have sorted it the battery was down. I plugged in the charger and it then came to life, telling me that the battery was down. After a short while when the battery had some charge, it functioned as normal.
Rather strange as I was sure that I charged it a week or so ago. Maybe the battery is on its way out.

Well, it states 3rd generation Paperwhite - which means the current one (technically 7th generation Kindle).  So a 5th generation device is, I assume, a Paperwhite v1.  In which case, you want this:-

PW1 Battery Replacement
