Well done, RK! You've had some cracking results recently. What's the secret?

RE: Slow Burning Lies - FREE for the next few days

Thanks DH.

I'm certainly pleased with the results, although I'd be happier if I knew what worked and what didn't.

And although I've got a few days of my mega-promotion left to run, some of the results have been hard to fathom. Slow Burning Lies and The Sugar Men both did well, which makes sense as they're my top sellers.

The global success of Matchbox Memories (I had downloads throughout Europe and even in Japan - Eh? Do what?) completely threw me as it hardly sells at all even in the UK. Rosa's Gold completely flopped, which I don't understand as it's so similar to The Sugar Men. Easy Money didn't do too well even though it's always been a reasonable seller, and Tales of Loss and Guilt didn't do so well because... well, short stories just don't.

I have mixed feelings because it seems unfair on people who bought my books, but on the other hand I have the knowledge that about fifteen thousand people thought it worthwhile downloading my books. How many actually read them? I don't know. How many enjoyed reading them? I don't know that either, but so far I've had six new reviews from the exercise, five for TSM and one for MM, all six were 5*.

As someone who's paid loads of money for your stories - 99p is outrageous for a full length 5 star novel Tongue Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin, I don't mind seeing it free. If I'd waited until it was free, then I wouldn't have enjoyed it already.

There's... erm... sound logic in there, joo.

Even though downloads have tailed off quite a bit, Slow Burning Lies has somehow found its way here over the pond in .com land:

(I can dream it's the paid charts)
