What I Read

Tongue Kindle Fire HDX

Once tomorrow (Saturday) arrives I will have owned my device for 1 week.
I am absolutely loving it and have not been on my desktop pc for 2 weeks now (oops).
I have already watched 2 films on the device and am now using the amazon film trial.
I was lucky to find a case ( with stand) in my local Currys/PC World for £3
The only feature so far untested is Skype but I'm not a skype fan so not bothered with it.

RE: Kindle Fire HDX

I absolutely love my HDX too - it has been far more fantastic than I even expected it to be. I bought it to use on a long journey in June when I was trying to minimise the weight I had to carry, and it was wonderful for that - I love the music player in particular but the image quality is great too, and the camera, and what I really enjoyed on the train was being able to do almost everything on one device (and not a phone with a tiny screen and pathetic battery life either).
Mine has unexpectedly just updated its interface for no apparent reason, but I'm fine with getting used to that!

I was shocked when the device auto updated. A few new changes which were pleasing. The addition of the weather removes the need for a weather app which is another plus.

You can convert older Kindles to a Kindle Fire. Pour some petrol on yer old Kindle, lob a lighted match on, and... voila! Undecided

Oi I'm only 41 er I mean 42.

Trying to get my head around audible at the moment.  Looking to see what the benefits of membership are (if any). I find the audiobooks to be a tad expensive.

Kindle Fire Thanks

Big Grin RE: Kindle Fire HDX

Hi, hope you dont mind me joining your thread but I am thinkinh about getting a kindle fire HDX 7 for christmas (if Santa is feeling generous Smile) but I am just looking for a bit of reassurance that this is the device for me. I currently use a very old android tablet but to be honest a barely utilise all its features and use it mainly as an ereader with the kindle app, hence the interest in a kindle, but i do also use it for occasional browsing as well as watching videos etc. i have heard mixed reviews about the HDXs ability to play video due to being incompatible with flash player. can anyone tell me if this is true and also if you can use the kindle to watch netflix, bbc iplayer and youtube. Thanks for your help!

Hiya.

I use my kindle hdx daily.

The bbc iplayer and youtube are accessible via amazon apps,  netflix although also available as an app is not free ( the app is but netflix isn't).

Before I began I was not intending on using mine for games or films. Shocked

Since then I have installed over 20 games, and have watched several films.

I now subscribe to the Amazon instant films and have several paid apps.

I have also since bought 3 music albums via amazon music. The latest being a violin album of 50 concertos which cost me less than £3. The playing time is over 6 hours.

My kindle fire has access to mobile data plus wifi

Hope this helps.

That's perfect thanks. Exactly the answer I was looking for from someone who knows from experience that these apps are available! Thanks. I already have a Netflix accounts so was hoping that I would be able to download a Netflix app to use.

Looks like I will definitely be going for a HDX for Christmas so look out for lots more posts from me after the holidays! Big Grin

Thanks!
