Do any of you have your books in KU? If so, how are you doing?

I have 4 of my Verity Long mysteries in the programme (though I won't be re-enrolling one of them when it's 90-days term expires next week). I've yet to see a single borrow in the UK (or Germany) but shift a lot of books in KU on Amazon.com.

Maybe we need an advertising site dedicated to KU in the UK - something similar to Indie Book Bargains.. Does anyone know of one? What are you doing to advertise your KU books?

RE: Kindle Unlimited

I have just (as of yesterday) moved my first book into select/KU. The reason being, it was doing nothing anywhere else. My sequel is in KU, but that has done nothing there - no borrows at all - and my suspicion is that people aren't borrowing book 2 because they can't borrow book 1.

Hence, as of now, they can borrow both. When I checked this morning, I'd already had one borrow of book 1. Smile

Book 2 expires in Select the middle of November. I'm undecided as yet whether I shall renew.

RE: Kindle Unlimited

I have 2 novels in KU but have only had 1 borrow between them. That came quite recently, almost immediately after I raised the prices of both, so I'm assuming people thought an expensive 'free' read was better value than a cheap one, or something. (sorry, that doesn't look as if it should make sense)
The only reason I've left them in Select is because they're under my real name and all the rest are under my pen-name, and I can't be bothered to do whatever it is I would have to do in Smashwords to have 2 names there. I quite like having something in there anyway, just to see how things go.

RE: Kindle Unlimited

I also raised the price of Wanted when I moved it into Select (although only by 50p). It hasn't sold a single copy in over 2 weeks at the lower price, so it's hardly like I'm going to lose sleep over the loss of sales. And if it makes the borrow seem like better value, then I'm all in favour! (it'll also make a Countdown deal look like better value too)

RE: Kindle Unlimited

It's hardly surprising that I get more  sales on my cheapest book (Strictly Murder is only 99p/99c) but I also get more borrows on it  Perhaps that's because it's the first in the series. Dunno.

There is a Facebook page for Kindle Unlimited, though it's mainly US books I see posted.  I do wish we had a more UK centric one, somewhere.

So far today I've had 2 UK borrows for Wanted. After 2 weeks of flatline, it definitely looks to be working Smile

Great news, Tim. I still have no UK borrows, but I have sold 5 copies of A Novel Way to Die today, after reducing it from £2.99 to £0.99. This was probably due to it being featured in Indie Book Bargains  (Thanks, Rosen Thanks )

RE: Kindle Unlimited

All my books are in KU and I'm averaging 2-3 borrows a day, mostly from my best-seller Hairy, Scary Spider?, though some of the others have had a few borrows too.
One thing I've noticed, my sales haven't changed at all - still between 2-5 a day. (though I had 10 one day this week! Smile)
This means KU has been good for me so far because these are extras on top of sales.

RE: Kindle Unlimited

I've had 22 borrows since the start of September, so roughly one every other day on average, but they are all the UK and all for Deceiving Ellie, the only one of my books that has ever sold with any consistency. I have no way of telling whether those 22 readers would have bought it if it hadn't been available to borrow, but I think I will leave all three in for the time being as i like the Countdown and other promotions and never sold a thing on Smashwords.

The way I see it is, some borrows is better than no sales. Smile
