Shorts and Secrets

No, not a new and racy 'party game'.

Did anyone watch the recent TV drama series 'Secrets' late at night on BBC1? For those who didn't there were five separate half hour programmes on a theme of, well, secrets.

I thought all five were well acted and produced, and couldn't actually fault the writing except that the 'secrets' weren't very original. But something seemed to be missing.

Aftter watching the last one I realised that half an hour simply isn't long enough to flesh out characters properly and at the same time have any real element of plot. It just brought home to me why a lot of people aren't hugely keen on short stories.

Anyone agree?

RE: Shorts and Secrets

I quite like short stories but am never fully satisfied with a half hour dramatisation. Words can move things along much quicker then a character being acted out on screen so I'm not sure this works.
I haven't seen these particular ones though, I'll have a look fo rthem.
