No, because you'll write another book and do it all again. Then another, and another and...

Seriously though, if you ask for advice here, we'll give it, frankly. Of course all advice is worth what you pay for it, but we won't say something's good if we believe it isn't, and we won't say it's rubbish if we think you've got it right. What we tell you is what we hope someone will tell us when the situation is reversed (and it often is, and they do). At the end of the day, we're looking for better Indie product from everyone, because we believe that benefits all of us.

What I Read

How's this for a bio?

I spend my days designing new technology and my evenings dreaming up fiction.
Boredom is the enemy I aim to defeat. It is an implacable beast that forever looms on the horizon and refuses to die.
The battles are long, the war never ending, and while i do not know if i will succeed i do know that i will not yield.

What I Read

RE: Licinio Santos Goncalves's Author thread

Ok, after a couple of days i read it again and it looked like crap, so here's this weeks try:
Bio:
This eccentric fellow can be found designing fire safety systems by day, and dreaming up fiction on his spare time, occasionally he even sleeps a little now and then.
A perfectionist at heart, nothing is ever 'finished' in his eyes for there is always room for improvement. Regardless of whether he is designing a program, an electronic circuit or a story, 'it will do' is simply never good enough.

Li, it might be better written in first person? I've had a bit of a twiddle with it...

My Bio:
I'm a slightly eccentric chap who designs fire safety systems by day, while trying to set the world alight in my spare time by writing fiction and occasionally grabbing an hour's sleep here and there.

I'm a perfectionist who strives for continuous improvement, whether I am writing, or designing electronic circuitry/programs. For me 'It will do' is just not good enough.

That is better!
I bow to your superior writing skills.

I get the distinct impression I'll be doing allot of bowing if i stick around these forums Smile.
Everyone around here seems to be so much better at this then i am. I had almost forgotten what that feels like.

I'm glad you like it! Thanks for the compliment, but my writing is not superior, just different. We don't really do bowing on the forum, we just help each other out if we can, and if we have the time.

What I Read

RE: Licinio Santos Goncalves's Author thread

You have an idea that gets stuck in your head and refuses to let go.
It claws itself into your very soul, consuming an ever increasing proportion of your waking hours and stalking you through your dreams.
Eventually it gets to the point that you must simply act on it, to stop from going insane if nothing else, and you write the dammed thing... then you write it again because the first time wasn't quite right.
Several editions (and more coffee than can be considered healthy) later, the thing is done and on sale, and you wait for people to review it.
Time goes by, sales are made but no one reviews it, no one says bad things about it either so you consider yourself lucky, but the wait becomes unbearable so you tune off and go back to your mundane existence in order to preserve what little there is left of your sanity.
And one day, for no apparent reason, you check in on the book again on a whim and see the most unexpected and utterly infuriating thing...  someone had the gall to review your book, giving it 5 stars and saying they liked it...

You get another idea stuck in your head as inspiration surges yet again. You try to avoid it, to carry on with your life and enjoy the little free time you have, but the beast grows with each passing day, refusing to be ignored as a new chapter in the tale starts unfolding before your minds eye, and you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is no hope for you now.

This affliction must be catching, because I seem to have it too, and haven't found a cure in years. But not sure I want one.

What I Read

RE: Licinio Santos Goncalves's Author thread

It has been some time since I stopped by these forums and for that I apologise.
I became lost in my own imagination as I worked on the second book, and my job ensures that I stay busy (not to mention fed, clothed, housed and so on)
Today I stumbled across an old "Favourite" link in my browser, followed it here and gasped at the realisation that nearly two years have passed since I last said hello.

Therefore... Hello!
