Just a point, curious aardvark, 3g is certainly available abroad. See thread 3g Abroad. Sometimes it's flakey and sometimes it's not there at all, but in most cases, you can connect for free wherever you are. In your case, it is possibly not an issue, but if you travel at lot, it is more important.
That is a good book which is opened with expectation and closed with profit.

RE: How's your battery?

I've had my Kindle since the beginning of november and have only charged it several times. I don't leave the wi-fi on and I get about 3-4 weeks without it needing charged. Haven't really discovered what else to do with it yet (not tech savvy) but I will get around to it.

Hi Sharisse

The battery drain is caused by the kindle working away in the background to index all those books so that they can be searched. Once it has finished indexing then the battery should return to normal usage.

If you want to see whether it has completed the indexing, on the home page type in some jumbled letters like 'jzkm' and click search. If there are books still to be indexed then the kindle will tell you how many, if the indexing is finished it should just tell you that the search returned no matches.

Hope this helps - perhaps in future limit the number of books you download in one go Sad

RE: How's your battery?

I've not had much luck with my Kindle(s). Sad

My first Kindle kept freezing and needed to do a re-set at least once a week, my battery life never lasted a month like it says on the tin, more like 2 weeks (I don't download lots of books on the go or leave my wireless on when not downloading either). Dunno why but I just put up with it for about a year. I did ring Amazon during that time and in the end they sent me a new one.

Had my 2nd Kindle for 2 days, after the initial charge, the next day on the way to work it froze and needed a re-set, and again today. When I got home it wouldn't even charge. I rang Amazon up and they suggested another re-set and to monitor it in the next few days.

Why can't I just get a Kindle that works, all I want to do is read in peace! Sad Tantrum
