A couple of years ago whilst in Brittany, I ate a savoury crepe with olives, garlic and goats cheese inside. I washed it down with a jug of Breton cider and watched yachts in the harbour. The sky was the bluest blue imaginable.
The crepe was incredible , the best I've ever tasted, but I think I could've eaten a dead dog and it would've tasted wonderful in that situation.
This was such a pleasant, evocative, almost poetic post from Dave, and then right at the end, Mr Macabre suddenly takes over and shoves a dead dog into the scene!

Well......
I planned ahead and got a lemon, blueberries and some maple syrup ....but the pancakes were an utter disaster. They stuck to the frying pan and the closest we got were some crispy bits, not too badly burnt that tasted of melba toast....so we had to order an emergency carry out curry...

It isn't your birthday soon is it Grace? Maybe he is thinking of buying you one as your present! Tongue

Just lemon and sugar for us on our pancakes. Had mine made by 7.15am and all I had to do was pop them in the microwave for a minute when we wanted to eat them. The dog also had to have his, but without the lemon and sugar, he gets most upset if I don't give him the first one out of the pan! Smile

Don't - just don't - not even jokingly. You are talking to someone who was once given a vegetable rack as a mother's day present.

Speaking as someone who got a deep fat fryer for her 40th, I feel your pain.

Commiserations! Was the deep fat fryer a surprise?
Actually, thinking about it - the very first present my hubs (then boyfriend) ever bought me was.....an electric blanket. Hmmm.
