I have now discovered after 18 months of trying to solve the problem of my kindle refusing to turn on (hold start button for at least 4 minst) that the issue is with the beautiful leather cover I originally bought at a cost of £30. I have now removed the cover and the kindle has a new lease of life and is working like new. I recall in the past that Amazon did talk about a problem with their leather covers and kindle 3...so the question is what cover do I need or can I purchase to ensure that the old problem does not happen again!!

The problem with the cover is caused by the metal clips affecting the battery, and you can fix this issue (and therefore continue to use your nice leather cover) by putting some sellotape or nail varnish over the metal clips. If you do a search on google you'll find lots of info about the issue - here's a link to a short article on it: Is Your Cover Crashing Your Kindle 3? Here's Why |

Amazon have just agreed to send me a new leather cover for my kindle free.....now that's pretty good...my kindle 3 was just under 3 years old so that was pretty good of them![]() |
