RE: Fungi

Great photos Linda!  I'm never brave enough to sample the wide variety of fungi round here.  Yesterday I found one of those red and white ones (as on your blog).  Looked like a genuine fairy house to me!

RE: Fungi

I like the tiny one best, and the one with the light shining through its gills (is gills the right word, or is that just fish?)

When my daughter was young, we collected fungi in Epping Forest because she'd been doing them at school, and she took them in with her on the Monday. Her teacher was so hugely enthusiastic and grateful that lots of the children then got their parents to take them fungi hunting and brought them in to school. Some were maggoty...the poor teacher was saying, "Oh, more fungi, how lovely!" for weeks.

RE: Fungi

Nice selection there, Linda. Nicola's 'red and white' one is the Fly Agaric which you do see quite frequently at this time of year.

'Gills' is correct, Lexi.

RE: Fungi

I would not eat the Fly Agaric as it's very poisonous. Someone found a panther cap which kills in three weeks - a lot of the fungi have a delayed death due to liver destruction.

That table is a toxic banquet.

You're welcome, Lexi.

Linda, it is also hallucinogenic. I think most (if not all) of the Amanita fungi are poisonous. Sad
