RE: Pulling the plug on Draft2Digital?

This week I've sold 18 Mask of the Macabres on Kobo. Okay so its not a massive amount by some standards but by mine, let's say it's monumental and surpasses my Amazon.com sales for all books.
I've searched on Google and can find no reason for the boom and my kobo chart position hasn't changed at all. So, either it takes more than that to move in the chart or, Kobo are putting through all my sales for the last 6 months following their controversial issues last year.
Has anyone else experienced sudden sales with Kobo? Or for that matter D2D?
I can't believe it's just clicked.
I'm not complaining but would like to understand so I can replicate it for my other books!

I'm struggling to get anything even listed on Kobo: all 3 of my books were submitted almost 2 weeks ago. They're up on Kindle, they're up on Nook, they'e even up on iBooks. But Kobo... still "publishing". Angry

I know you prefer to cut out the middle man, Tim but for me D2D cuts out the potential for frustration induced listing rage.

For Kobo, I *am* going through D2D...

There's been repeated history of Kobo pulling down loads of D2D books with no cause or reason, so I can't help wondering whether the delay is *because* it's going through D2D.

I'm with D2D for the Witch, Wolf, Vampire and sales have been rather surprising for me. Just checked and sold 89 this month but mostly with Apple, only a few on Kobo. I have no idea how or why it's sold as well, tho I'm not complaining. I just wish I knew, like you, then could do same with others too.

It must be high on an Apple list somewhere, most likely in the US. (I have only been able to see the UK iBook charts with my UK account. I'm not sure if it's possible to widen the net.) If I were you I'd get your other books on Apple ASAP, if you haven't already.

RE: Pulling the plug on Draft2Digital?

That's a nice surprise, Dave, albeit frustrating if you can't attribute it to anything! Mads is probably right that it's on an Apple list somewhere. I did once get a burst of Apple sales for Fake Kate with no rhyme or reason, although Kob sales have been negligible for everything. Having said that, I haven't done any promotion for ages.

Hi Mads, wish I could lol. When I first published I opted into Select for Defender series, first one comes out on 20th Feb and I will DEF be putting on D2D and adding others as they become available. Anything new is going on also, not doing Select for anything else until I can see if D2D works for other books too. I am more than a little bemused at one I've go on there at mo.

[ltr]If you want to go direct to Apple iBookstore and do not have a Mac, you can use Author EMS to upload for you ($30 as at May 2013) or Macincloud to rent an online Mac.[/ltr]
[ltr]I still have 2 books on Kobo and haven't sold anything since June 2013. D2D hasn't been much better with 3 sales in the last 3 months. I pulled my best selling book from both those sites in November and put it into select. I've been running a Countdown Deal on Amazon.com since Wednesday, and sales have increased, but nothing dramatic. Even so, I'm thinking of moving the other 2 into Select, but I'll wait until this Countdown Deal has ended to decide.  [/ltr]

D2D are are introducing some new channels soon, I gather... I'm hoping for Google Play, since just typing this on my new Chromebook! (If they don't go there, I might try going direct since Google could be an important market in future, I think.)
