I've submitted mine to that site. Bet they won't run it though, since it's over $2...

I entered my freebie earlier this month but have no way of telling if anyone downloaded it, since Kobo do not appear to report free downloads.

How do you enter? I clicked on the link and clicked on 'submission form' where I got to a page that stated the rules for submitting, but not the form that I could fill in...

I think there might be a problem with the form on some browsers - try Firefox?

My theory on Kobo is that my books work out more expensive on the UK Kobo site than they do at Apple and Nook, even though they all have the same dollar price via. D2D.

Also, I think my Apple sales might be happening because Book 1 of the Seven Fabulous Wonders "The Great Pyramid Robbery" is free from itunes so kids can download that book easily to their iphones. I don't know what will happen to my Apple sales if Amazon ever gets around to price-matching so this book is perma-free on Kindle too... it's 77p with Amazon at the moment, which does not seem to have the same promotional effect.

Mind you, I'm talking tiny figures, so said sales could just as easily be totally random! Pondering

I love the ease of use you get from D2D, so much better than SW anyway. Price changes take a matter of hours to go through rather than weeks.

If you can get a promo for B&N under your belt sales can be excellent on the other sites too. I'm into my sixth month on the site and have achieved almost 20k sales. like I say, you need the power of an ad to get you noticed initially.

RE: Pulling the plug on Draft2Digital?

Thanks for the information, Mel. I’m considering ‘pulling the plug’ but this has made me think again. My sales are nowhere near yours but it shows the market is there.

I also find D2D's help quicker and better than Amazon, which also makes me feel like sticking with them for a while longer.

RE: Pulling the plug on Draft2Digital?

I'm currently on hiatus with D2D while my book is in Select. But since Amazon seem to have thoroughly trashed Select, and it's doing absolutely nothing for me, I'll almost certainly be back with D2D in January.

No problem, Ray. Unless you're told about these things us authors are out there lost in the wilderness.

I totally agree, Tim. I put my latest in Select after uploading on the other sites for a week and regretted it immediately. We live and learn, at least my subscribers were able to purchase a copy on the other sites before I withdrew it. :-)

RE: Pulling the plug on Draft2Digital?

I'm giving serious thought to pulling out early now. In nearly 6 months I've had a total of 15 sales in total. Couple that with rapidly declining sales on Amazon and I'm getting itchy feet to try Select again.
Is there any benefit to hanging on until the end of the year? Are there any sales booms on Nook or Apple (forget Kobo) over Christmas?
I realise a couple of months is a short time but as Indies we have the chance to react to things quickly and I'm concerned I may be hanging on tyo something which just isn't working.

RE: Pulling the plug on Draft2Digital?

David, Amazon have introduced a 30 day embargo on promotions after any price change, so think carefully if (say) you want to run a promotion over Christmas, then you can't run any Black-Friday promos. And you also can't run promos within 14 days of the end of your select term (not sure about the start).

As I said above, Amazon have pretty much butchered Select in the last month and the benefits are becoming increasingly meagre, so consider carefully before you jump.
