Calibre version 1.0.0 major update and warning!

I haven't updated calibre for a while as they come so fast I get a bit bored with them.  However 1.0.0 contains some great new features - e.g. the cover grid so you can see all your covers at once, though you can switch back to see the carousel of covers and the book list.  Also the ToC feature from docx files seems much improved which will be immensely helpful to authors, though haven't tried it myself.  Go to your current version of calibre and click the update alert in the bottom right hand corner.  You can check out what's new from the page that comes up.

BUT be warned!!!! if you download from the what's new pages you get offered a vast number of browser add-ons, toolbars, download managers and God knows what - some can be cancelled and others not.  I would suggest you avoid these like the plague as they look at best unhelpful and ad driven, but also very possibly rather dodgy.  However if you download straight from the first page after clicking in calibre all will be well: you will get the usual download of an update.   I realise calibre has to pay for itself and donations may not be sufficient but this is not a good way to go about it.

Addendum:  download OK from here: calibre download

RE: Calibre version 1.0.0 major update and warning!

I downloaded the update this morning. I've been using the docx to epub conversion for my last few ebook updates, and I can confirm that as long as you are using a properly styled docx, it produces a great epub without need for any editing.
