Convert Audio to Text

Hi,

Good day to all. I'm just new here and badly need help. Does anybody here knows any software or service where I can transcribe my audio files into text?  I have tons of it in different formats and I have no time listening to all of it and transcribe it into words. I'm willing to spend a few bucks for it but better if it will be free.

Thanks,
Allan

You could try looking under Audio Typing on Fiverr and similar places, but don't expect it to be cheap.

RE: Convert Audio to Text

Good day to all as well.

Just want to share this as I have the same problem a week ago and also ask help in some forums. And these all wrapped up to my conclusion.

Using online speech to text services you can convert audio files to text document easily and its more reliable than downloaded software.

Dragon is the most commonly used but can't be taken for professional purposes since you still have to train it.

You may also try a service like http://www.speechtotextservice.com/ or you can hire in elance, freelance, odesk, etc.

But one thing is for sure. As of the present technology in transcription, still nothing is free, unless you still do the work.

Hope this adds up FYI.

Thanks for your suggestions. Will definitely try those out as I'm a bit desperate and time pressured. Hope there still some other suggestions to come. Will keep you posted.

I do audio typing for a living - when I was self employed a few years ago, it wasn't cheap then. What you also have to remember is, that I am a damn good audio typist, but I have built up a rapport with my bosses so I know their phraseology and little quirks and technical jargon, and that takes time to build up - a complete stranger typing your stuff may completely alter the meaning of some of it accidentally by tidying it up - or then again, that might be a bonus!

RE: Convert Audio to Text

I have used Dragon naturally speaking. The speech recognition is very good but it is expensive and it needs training to your voice. A good microphone is essential.
Also I found it took a long time to learn to dictate using proper grammatical language - so often when we speak we take shortcuts.
Some of the more expensive Dragon software says it will transcribe audio recordings but I have never tried this

RE: Convert Audio to Text

Are you referring to Nuance Dragon software? Well I checked that already and it is indeed a wonderful software though it is very expensive IMO. So I settled with Speech Transcription Service and spend just around $10 for a 6 minute audio to text conversion.

Thanks for those who cared to help.

Good luck with it.

I'm on a little tangent. I was trialling some voice recognition software to use with dyslexic pupils and others who find writing a challenge. I found that it just wasn't viable in terms of the accuracy of the pickup or the time it took to input words to the programme. I'm sure there's good stuff around, but for now I'll going back to the drawing board (and the keys).
Thanks,

nigel

RE: Convert Audio to Text

Hi Guys,

Good day to all of you and glad to seeing you all once again. I just want to inform and share to all of you that I've recently found a new and innovative Audio and Video transcription service which also provides subtitling and captioning service. They can also do transcription of different languages. The price is cheaper by half the price with what I was using previously as I've mentioned above and the turnaround time is much faster!

Check them out guys at OwlTranscription - Best Audio & Video Transcription Service. They've just recently launched and their clients are increasing enormously and giving positive feedbacks. If you're still in need of transcription, I highly recommend you try this.

Hope this helps once more.  Idea
