Children's Paperback Donations Needed for South African Schools

Calling children's authors and other generous people...

93% of schools in South Africa don't have libraries. Here's you chance to help a non-profit organisation bring books to South African children.

I received an appeal for books by email and thought I'd pass on the info as it seems to be a very good cause. The organisers have written a summary especially for KUF and UKAKF. Here it is:

Quote: Zingela Ulwazi, meaning "Hunt for Wisdom" in Zulu, is a not for profit organisation co-ordinating donations of books and library materials for schools in South Africa, 93% of which don't have libraries. We are after excellent, inspiring books in tiptop condition to help us fill libraries with a full spectrum of information for primary and high schools. Our UK collections will be shipped to South Africa, care of a generous freight sponsor.

The emphasis is on children's fiction, non-fiction including dictionaries and reference books and books that are "must read" or come highly recommended.

To donate new and quality used books, please contact Stella Horgan (SA): stella.horgan@hotmail.com / Colette ONeill (UK): coletteoneill00@yahoo.com

Stella also asked me to say that this is relatively new project which is still in its start up phase, but it has solid partners in the Seeds of Light and Andries Botha Foundation and a broad network of support.

A website will be up shortly. In the meantime, you can find out more on their Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/ZingelaUlwazi
