IF 0 networks available turn the areoplane mode on, you have to see the plane icon next to the battery icon, do the factory reset, then hold the power button for 20 seconds, this will erase all your content from  your Kindle but will bring the networks back

Thank you sooo much! I was trying increasingly technical fixes to get my new Kindle to connect to my home Wi-Fi and this simple solution did the trick.

Have spent 2 days(!!) trying to sort this on my husband's old kindle that had been off for months and woke up with 0 wifi networks available. Followed this advice and all fine now and all books restored from archive (this is 2nd kindle on the account). Many many thanks x

RE: Kindle won't connect to Wifi

Had same problem with my wifes kindle and mine (3rd generation) found this link, that does a factory reset, you can then reload content from your amazon account and you as good a new, so simple but so effective. http://doitanyway.co.uk...

RE: Kindle won't connect to Wifi

I'm late into this thread, but have been wrestling with the same connection problem with my new Kindle Paperwhite. I hope I have now sorted the problem, and this reply is to outline what worked for me.
My router is a BT Home Hub 5. My other wi-fi enabled kit connects OK, but the new Paperwhite wouldn't, and the usual rebooting / restore factory settings for both Kindle and router (each tried several times) were unsuccessful.
I then went into the "Advanced" set up option on the Paperwhite. You need to scroll down on the page that comes up. You can then enter manually all the DNS, IP address, Sub-net and Gateway (router) information. That is a bit of a pain, and you need to know the information to input (should be shown in your router management stuff). In the IP address, I put in an unassigned set of numbers as the last three numbers. (I set this three number set well above the last assigned numbers, so that hopefully connecting another wi-fi enabled device in future won't result in my Kindle number being over-written).
With that information input to the Paperwhite, it connected to the router straight away. And the connection link has survived switching the wi-fi connection off (into Aeroplane mode) and switching the Paperwhite off (including overnight). So I am hoping that the link is now robust.
So that worked for me - and could be a solution for others with a similar problem.
