RE: Lovefilm Instant hidden gems?

That's a really great list - Audition, Old Boy and The Chaser are some of my favourite Asian movies. Just discovered that Azumi's on Instant too, worth a watch if you like silly samurai/action films with plenty of swordplay.

The Last Starfighter occasionally appears on Instant, great bit of nostalgia Smile

What I Read

RE: Lovefilm Instant hidden gems?

We watched Carnage last night.

Very good, more like a play than a movie which was different.

RE: Lovefilm Instant hidden gems?

I was pleasantly surprised by The Adjustment Bureau. It has a couple of issues, but overall highly entertaining and an intriguing idea. It is a little slow to start so give it some time.

I'd second the recommendations of The Illusionist, Source Code and True Crimes (which I thought was very good), but I found The Hurt Locker to be a disappointment and certainly couldn't recommend it. The Objective was much better, if a little odd.

Watched a cracker last night. Delicacy.

French film (with subtitles) starring Audrey Tatou. In essence its a Rom-com but it's actually funny and romantic in a quirky, French way.

I know subtitles aren't for everyone but I forgot they were there after a while. I highly recommend it if you want a really good feel good which isn't sickly sweet. Great film.

I know you're not after a series, but The Larry Sanders Show is a doozy.

I hugely second The Illusionist. An utterly brilliant movie, very definitely not to be missed.

A batch of great new series has been added, including the original Star Trek, Californication, Dexter, Castle, Nurse Jackie, and The West Wing.

I've watched season 1 of The Walking Dead this week. I thought it was really good. I'm not usually a zombie man but I thought this was very tense.
Mrs H, however didn't find it quite so appealing.

If you enjoyed Time Crimes, you might also enjoy Primer. It isn't an easy film by any means, but if you like having your brain bent into unlikely shapes by time travel, it's a killer.
