RE: Amazon now paying non US authors by EFT! Bye bye cheques :)

Some people seem to get these codes on their bank statements automatically, but I only recently found mine via online banking after my account changed from Lloyds TSB to TSB. There was suddenly a little dropdown thing on my online statement saying IBAN/BIC codes and hey presto, there they were. I think you can also go into your bank and ask them but I had never had time to do that.
I've added them to my Amazon account but it wasn't in time for last month so I am waiting to see if they work from now on.

Got it!  EFT = Electronic Funds Transfer.

Now - Where do I find the BIC and IBAN number of the bank account?
Depends who u bank with. I do online banking with B of S and they now have the facility to see those online. However, most don't so u have to phone ur telephone banking and ask. BUT sometimes they give incorrect BIC!
Thanks AK - while you were typing I found the answer (fingers crossed) :-) Epic if it works.
Definitely works if info is correct, I got my first payments from them end last month/beg of this.

Thanks very much to all posting in this thread.  I was under the impression it would be all sorts of hassle to avoid the 30% charge from the IRS.
Filled in my tax interview this morning, and it was a breeze.
Not that I've made any money yet...

It used to be a real hassle - involving passports and trips to the US embassy. But after I'd sorted mine out they suddenly decided to make it easy.Confused

I went through all that too, Daphne. Glad to hear the embassy and passport thing isn't necessary any more, though it's an experience I'll always remember... after reading the instructions on the IRS website and leaving everything electronic including my phone at home in Devon, I got turned away at the gate because I possibly might have blown up the place with my car keys... said car parked at the station back in Devon, of course.

Around about Christmastime, I registered on KDP and decided I couldn't be bothered with all the hassle with the IRS. Didn't expect to sell any books in the USA anyway.

Glad it's so much easier now - especially when I sold my first book yesterday on Amazon.com rather than .co.uk. Not a lot of money obviously, but it's nice not to lose 30% of it.

I completed my tax interview & other information only yesterday. The option to be paid by cheque still exists - indeed I have opted for it.

So is that no more cheques for people joining KDP after September or does everyone have to switch over to EFT?
