Kindle Fire / HD how to remove or opt out of lock screen adverts.

You may or may not have already noticed, but you can now choose whether to have advertisements on your Kindle Fire lock screen.

Amazon.co.uk have added a new option when making your purchase to buy a Kindle Fire without ads albeit at an additional £10 cost.

If you already own a Kindle Fire with advertisements, you can now opt out of this for a one off £10 fee payable to Amazon.co.uk. Details of how to do this can be found on the Amazon page here : http://www.amazon.co.uk...

If you ask nicely via the support live chat line ,or even by e mail, the nice Indian gents will do this for you.And they will usually do it free of charge .They removed them for me instantly today at no charge, so ask,and you will receive .

What I Read

RE: Kindle Fire / HD how to remove or opt out of lock screen adverts.

I read somewhere that they are supposed to only do it free of charge if you bought your Kindle Fire at, say, Carphone Warehouse or Argos and had not been informed about the advertisements when you bought it - which, lets face it, the person on the till at Argos etc probably isn't even aware that there are ad supported and ad free versions. In practice though, it seems that if you ask nicely enough without getting s****y with the customer services at Amazon, they will do it for free anyway.
