Kindle Fire battery life.

Hello there,
I'm after some feedback about the battery life of the Kindle Fire.
Hubs bought me one for Christmas and box fresh, the battery lasted 2 days. The first full recharge lasted four days, then I found myself charging it daily after minimal use (been back at work so not much time to play on it Blush )
However, yesterday I charged it in the afternoon, read for half an hour in the evening (screen brightness at 1/3, WiFi off, Airplane mode on) and this morning the battery was completely flat. This is the second time, despite minimal use, I've picked it up and the battery has been flat.
I'm really, really disappointed since it will be next to useless for travel and the purpose for which I wanted to use it. After only owning it 10days, it's spent more time on charge than it has being used.
Does anyone know what battery life should be expected from the KF?
thanks,
Grace x

I have to charge mine most days after about 4/5 hours use, and I think that is pretty average from what I have seen. Are you remembering to shut it right down when you have finished with it, instead of just leaving it on standby - because that does make a difference as well.

There are a few suggestions on extending battery life in this article, things like screen brightness and apps running in the background, that might be worth a look.

RE: Kindle Fire battery life.

Hi Grace
my 2 boys got one each for christmas and the used the most days. the battery life has been around 8-10 hours with wi-fi on and streaming video. So unless you're not shutting it down after use, not just putting it into sleep mode. looks like your battery is faulty.

I haven't used mine for streaming much, but do use the internet a lot and play those annoying apps I now get for free, and the battery is holding up well, probably 4 - 6 hours or so. I do turn off wifi though whenever I'm not using it, even if it's only for half an hour.

Thanks for the responses everyone.
I'm pretty much only getting 20 - 30 minutes reading time (with the screen on 33%, no Wifi) - I don't use apps, no videos and rarely use it to access the internet other than on Xmas day - and the first start up the battery lasted 2 days. I've reached the conclusion the device is faulty and so hubs phoned Amazon tonight (he bought it me as a gift) and they are sending out a replacement. The customer services certainly seem on the ball...fingers crossed the replacement one doesn't disappoint like the first.
Happy New Year, everyone.

Glad customer services are sending you a new one Grace, but it's a pity you have to go through the hassle of having a faulty one in the first place. Fingers crossed the new one is better. Smile

RE: Kindle Fire battery life.

Sorry you've had this problem but glad you've found Amazon service is so good.

I recently had to arrange to return of my broken Kindle and without hesitation they sent me a new one which arrived the next day. The only problem was that there was no advice as to how to return my old one. I had to phone them again and only then they sent me an email with a printable (free) return label. I don't know if this is the norm or If something went wrong with my first communication. Anyway all ended happily. Smile

Funny, but the exact same thing happened to me today.  Maybe Amazon don't want there faulty products returned to them.
