Watching film/TV offline

Hi,

Before buying my Kindle Fire HD it was my understanding that I would be able to download films and watch them while offline eg travelling to work on the train. It now seems that this is not the case, at least it cannot be done from Amazon/Lovefilm. Is there anywhere else I can download compatible content from so that I can watch it offline ? This was one of the main reasons for me to buy the Fire HD.

It seems that this is possible in the US -
http://www.amazon.com...

I'm not interested in converting file formats or that kind of thing. I just want to be able to download rather than stream.

Thanks for any comments/suggestions.

I also purchased the Fire so that I could watch downloaded videos etc. and I am surprised by the fact you can't in the UK. I wonder how many others bought the Fire thinking they could easily download video content.

The BBC iPlayer app allows you to download content to watch offline for up to 7 days if I'm not mistaken.

RE: Watching film/TV offline

Hang on. Have I made a mistake here? I bought the kindle fire because I travel a lot and often I am in places with little or no wi fi connection so I bought a kindle so I could watch films offline. But duh?! It would appear that I can't. How come I could if I lived in the US but I can't in the UK? What is the point of having a kindle fire if I can't travel with it I ask myself. What do other people here think? Is the new Kindle Fire a waste of time or will an app appear soon so that UK users can join in the fun?

You can still transfer your own downloaded movies, DVDs etc. There was another thread about this earlier today.

OK I'll have a go using Hamster file converter. I hope the situation will change though and UK users will be able to download films to watch later too.
