Kindle 3 Screen Problems

Hello

Last week on Watchdog they featured that the e-ink screen can go wrong and is irreparable. The Kindle 3 comes with a 12 month warranty so if it goes wrong within that time it will get replaced. If you get a replacement that only has a warranty of 3 months. The worrying thing is that my warranty for my Kindle 3 is going to run out in less than 2 months. I just hope it doesn't go wrong.

Have any of you had this problem?

I don't know if this a general rule or not, but Amazon replaced mine when it went after the 12 months and I have also heard the same from several people - Others have been offered a large discount off a new one

Kindle 3 is the keyboarded* one, either with 3g or just wifi.
Most of the problems I heard of seemed to be with cracked cases, which Amazon dealt with like heroes.
I know of Kindles that had impacts, wet dogs etc that ruined the screens, that Amazon also replaced, no quibbling.

*not a real word, but it seemed to fit Smile

RE: Kindle 3 Screen Problems

Kindle Keyboard is the Kindle 3. The Kindle Touch is sometimes referred to as Kindle 5, the basic Kindle currently sold for £69 on Amazon is Kindle 4. However, screen issues affect all Kindles, immaterial of what generation.

The plus of buying a Kindle is that Amazon will quite often replace your Kindle free of charge within the 1-year warranty immaterial of what goes wrong with it, others won't necessarily do this. And as already mentioned, even if it's after the warranty has expired, they quite often offer you a replacement for a reduced price (although given the £69 price of a new Kindle, paying £50 isn't quite so attractive for a replacement any more!).
