Paperwhite Battery life

I charged up the Kindle when I got it on Thursday. I have read for about 2 hours and already the battery was on minimum and I have had to charge again.
How long is your battery lasting?? I was expecting it to last same as my touch.

It should last longer than that Lynda, I would give it a really good charge and monitor how long it lasts. If it doesn't last longer than 2 hours I would give customer services a ring.

The spec says 28 hours of use with wireless off and light set to 10.

Have you sent all your books to the new Kindle via Wi-Fi? Doing a lot of wireless transfers and the subsequent indexing could reduce the battery life significantly.

Batteries in electronic devices no longer need 'conditioning', so providing you charged the unit up until the battery said 100%, it sounds like you could have a fault with your unit.

As Frogplate said, however, wireless transfer does munch up battery life!

That could be it I sent about 200 books via wi fi. I have recharged the unit and switched to airplane mode so will see how it goes now.
Thank you.

It'll take a few hours just to index that lot.

That's probably the answer then Lynda. It will take a while to index them, so your battery may well run out again, but once they have done that things should settle down. Smile
