Brendon Hill Mornings
Family quarrels have driven Henry to leave the family farm and take a job nearby. At the turn of the year, what can he look forward to? His father has died suddenly. Mother and Aunt Hilda harass him to return home. He believes they are hiding a secret that they dare not tell him and his two brothers.
Plenty of women fancy Henry but his heart is set on Amelia, daughter of a rich landowner. He makes friends with a neighbouring farmer but soon finds himself in a dispute with his own mother. He confides in a local solicitor but, out of his depth in village society, Henry has a fight on his hands.
