reboot after download

Hi I'm sure someone here can tell me why this is happening. I only turn on my wi fi. On my kindle 4 about once a week. So there are several books waiting for download. They all download fine but when I have turned the wi fi back off and start to read it freezes and I have to reboot. This has happened quite a few times now is this because my kindle has a lot of books on it or is something wrong.

RE: reboot after download

Possibly because the Kindle creates an index for each book as it is downloaded to make it easier to search. This indexing can take usually a minute or so, longer for large books or if you download a few a time. Suggest you switch on your wifi more often! You could test my theory by downloading any free book from Amazon, switching on the wifi and seeing what happens.

RE: reboot after download

I don't have wi fi at home so I have to get to a cafe or the library to go on. That's why I only do it occasionally. The free wi fi zones are few and far between here.
So this needing to reboot is normal?

I usually only turn my wifi on once a week and have never had a problem with having to reboot at all. I have an older Kindle keyboard but that shouldn't make a difference. Sometimes I have seven or eight books to download, but more often three or four.

RE: reboot after download

Needing a reboot isn't normal. If it's not too much hassle you should try doing a reset to factory default to see if that fixes it. I recently had similar issues with my Kindle Keyboard (freezing up after connecting to wi-fi) and that was what worked for me.

Be aware you will need to back up all your books from your Kindle onto your computer, or be faced with re-downloading them all from Amazon, as resetting to factory defaults removes all your content. You'll also have to set-up the w-fi connection and possibly re-register the Kindle to your Amazon account. To be honest, as long as you don't have too many books on your Kindle, it doesn't take too long to do.
