Foreign accents
Anyone had experience of this?
(Just to save me time - I don't want to have to publish then withdraw and republish)
Thanks!

RE: Foreign accents![]() I was just wondering as when I have used a strange font in the past, or weird spacing, KDP doesn't like it and it comes out strange. I wasn't sure if accents would get messed up during publication... |

RE: Foreign accentsShould I start going on about Mobipocket Creator? I'd be happy to convert a sample word document to Kindle for you if you want, or explain how to do it so you could do it yourself in future. It depends how confident you are with IT. Let me know by reply or send me a private message. I always convert drafts of my work to read on my Kindle - it's the closest you can get to seeing what a potential reader would see so I would recommend it. RK |
RE: Foreign accentsThanks for your advice and kind offer. I'll see how I go with this and PM you if I get stuck!! |
RE: Foreign accentsI am told to zip them together before uploading to amazon but when I send the text html file to a zipped compressed folder, a zip file is created but the icon doesn't have the zip and you aren't allowed to drag the picture file into the zip file. Any ideas, please?

RE: Foreign accentsI have to confess I don't know about zipping and images, but I assume if they're not embedded in the word file you have to include them somehow. I can only tell you what I've done to get a .prc file from a basic word document - that will help you check foreign characters at least. 1) You need to save the word document as 'Web page, filtered' - which I assume from the above you've done. 2) Open Mobipocket Creator > Import form existing file > HTML document to get the import file wizard. 3) Top window - Browse to your HTML file (usually a .htm) , Bottom window - browse to the folder where you want the output to go. 4) Hit 'Import' which will take you to the 'Publication files' section. You can add a cover image if you want to here but for proof reading it's irrelevant. 5) Hit 'Build' and on the next section leave it on 'No Encryption' and hit 'Build' again. 6) That's it! (as long as you have no errors - warnings are okay) 7) Connect your kindle up via USB and drag and drop the .prc file onto the 'kindle drive letter'. Disconnect and you should find your 'new title' on the kindle. Good Luck - let me know if you have problems. RK. |
RE: Foreign accentsI will try your method to though to check I get similar results. Sometimes getting the book uploaded seems to be harder than writing the blasted thing!
