Manga reader

Hi, I am looking at purchasing either a Kindle Fire or Kindle Fire HD for my son for Christmas. He is very keen on Manga and spends a lot of time reading the free Manga available with the Manga Rock 2 app on the ipad.

Does anyone know if this or a similar app is available for the Kindle Fire?

Help and advice appreciated.

RE: Manga reader

The Kindle Fire won't be released in the UK until end of October, so I'm not sure we are able to see what apps will be available. All they say in the promo about apps is "tens of thousands of apps will be available".

I can access the kindle app store on my tablet and they don't have Manga Rock 2 on there, though there are other manga reading apps.

Hi, thank you for your replies, it would be great I you could let me know more about the manga apps and their names so I can do more research on the web.

Have a look at the apps on Amazon.com. They are generally what is available on co.uk, we just can't access them here unless you do it through the KF, but it will give you an idea of what is available.

If you are bit technical then you can sideload apps from the Google Android store onto the Kindle Fire. Not all will work perfectly, but many do. For example Dark Horse Comics' Reader app isn't available in the Amazon store but works perfectly on the Kindle Fire. (Not generally a Manga publisher but I guess "Usagi Yojimbo" counts.)

Update: Dark Horse have about 1,000 Manga titles, though they do cost $$$s. Generally not my genre so hadn't checked out their titles before.
