translations

hi everyone, just a quick question - have searched but can't seem to find an answer..

I've recently downloaded & read a free Spanish Version of Franz Kafka's The Metamorphosis..
The translation itself was fine, but on almost every page, words would be split in two (my wife is Spanish so I can speak it fluent enough to know it is not correct), for example, something like: "Gregor cr awled to the wall", & in 1 case a page was repeated.

I'd like to volunteer to correct these mistakes for other readers but how would you go about it?

I've checked Amazon & Kindle sites but cant seem to find any way forward..

thanks for any help you can offer,
Bill

What I Read

RE: translations

Hi Bill and welcome!!

I too have a number of classic freebies on my Kindle in foreign languages. Very generous offer on your side, if I may say so. Amazon don't produce the free books on their site - they repackage them with their own cover format, most free books elsewhere don't have covers. Is there any evidence at the front or back of the book who produced it? You could check on Manybooks or Gutenberg to see if the same text is there. Gutenberg certainly look for people to check texts as they use processed scanned texts which always produce some errors which get through their own net.

Thanks for the reply Tony

There doesn't seem to be any information about who produced it in the book itself - I checked the Gutenberg & Manybooks catalogues & it doesn't appear in either of them.. ah well, it's a shame, there's only 1 review of it on Amazon, & it just highlights the errors - hopefully it won't put people off downloading it, it is free after all & the little mistakes don't really hurt that much.

I may write something similar to that on Amazon actually.

Thanks again
cheers

Other final option - Google the opening sentence mistakes and all - you never know something might come up.
