By soon I actually meant next year, which I guess isn't really all that soon!

It's likely to be similar to what happened when the Kindle Touch was first released. Amazon will limit sales to their biggest market (the USA) so as they can meet demand, and after the initial rush and busy Christmas period is over and done with, they'll announce a release date for the rest of the world. So early next year, and given that the Paperwhite was released on Oct 1st, whereas the Kindle Touch was the middle of November last year, we might not have to wait until April this time round.

Ha shows what I know re the Paperwhite not being released until next year, RAPIDinfusion has just noticed that the Kindle Paperwhite is now available to pre-order on Amazon.co.uk, for release on Oct 25th.

I've got a 2nd gen kindle and decided to upgrade to the latest and greatest Kindle Touch. Was just about to make the purchase on Amazon UK when I noticed on the wikipedia article that Amazon annouced a new Kindle Touch (5th generation I believe). I've tried to find it on Amazon Uk site but it looks like it has not been released yet.

I've read that the Paperwhite is not going to be released in the UK in the foreseeable future, but does this also apply to the brand new Kindle Touch?

Thanks!
Hang on there Daniel. The Paperwhite is being released in the U.K. in a couple of weeks. It's not worth buying anything else now; this new version is the bees knees. Kindle Smile

Just be aware that it has no audio and less storage space than the older version.

Important for some people maybe but personally I've never used the audio apart from trying it for a few minutes out of curiosity. Regarding storage we all have the cloud now, a sort of virtual library in the sky, from which we can pull down a few shelves full of books onto our portable device if we want. We don't need to cart around all our books, in fact I'm getting into the habit now of just carrying unread books on my Kindle together with a few of my old favourites; everything else is safely stacked away in my Amazon library. If you like looking at your total stock I can really recommend Shelfari which offers a visually appealing view of all your books.

RE: new Kindle Touch

The Kindle Touch has now been discontinued.
Considering it has only been here since April, this is bad news as Amazon rarely, if ever give updates for discontinued models...
