using library services

Hello fellow bookworms. I have been havering about which ereader to buy. I like the design of the kindle and have read that the new paperlight is the best on the market BUT..want to be able to borrow ebooks from my library. Is this going to be possible with the Kindle or should I give up and buy a Nook?
