RE: Review my eBook - READ THS FIRST

Any feedback now this has been going for a week or so?
My feedback is there is possibly not enough detail in the OPs or thread title.
When there's more and more review requests, you will need to stand out from the start.
Saying "full details can be found elsewhere" probably wouldn't make me go looking elsewhere.
David's Friend Request thread and title is a good example of what I'd be looking out for as a potential review requester (or should that be requestee? Big GrinBig Grin).

What I Read

RE: Review my eBook - READ THS FIRST

Bumping this to remind readers there are free books on offer for the tiny price of writing an honest review.
Have a look through and see if there's anything you fancy.

And to authors, please don't post "my book is free on amazon today, please review it" as that is not the purpose of this section otherwise it would get innundated with rubbish out-of-date threads.
I see someone has put "closed" in their thread title. That's a great idea.

Oh and no bumping. (hehe, apart from me as my first word on this thread is "bumping" Big GrinBig GrinBig Grin)

Yes it is! I've stolen it and *CLOSED* one of mine.

This section is a superb idea. I've been fortunate enough to get some nice reviews from a few lovely people because of it. And reviewers get a freebie in return. Win-win! Thumbs Up

I'd advise reviewers not to put their emails in their posts, do it via pm, it's safer.

Sample copies on Kindle?

This may sound stupid, but how do I offer free review copies of my novel, which is available for sale on Kindle? Is there a way for me to buy digital vouchers for download, or do I send out PDF or Word copies? Thanks in advance.

You can send Word or PDF, although most people will prefer mobi versions. If you download a problem called Calibre (it's free) you can convert PDF to mobi.

And with thousands of people snapping up a bargain Nook for only £29, some reviewers may prefer epub format and Calibre can do that, too.

RE: Review my eBook - READ THS FIRST

Thanks for these replies. I actually downloaded Calibre when I was formatting King's Ransom for Kindle, but in the end I used the Kindle Previewer. I'll have another go with Calibre.

Does it mean (sorry, but I am not that technically aware) that if I send someone a mobi or an epub file, users can simply upload it to their respective Kindle and Nook readers? If so, how does one prevent the files being shared with lots of other people?

Thanks again for the help.

You could add their name to the cover or the title page or the header. PDFs can be watermarked. People are much less likely to share stuff if it's got their name on it (and so can be traced back to them...).

I don't know about Nook, but on my iPad I can simply tap the attachment and it'll automatically open in Kindle or iBooks. Kindle users can forward the mobi file to their @kindle.com email address and it'll be added to their archive. You can also send the book direct to their @kindle.com address, which cuts out the middle man. But:-
- They need to tell you their @kindle.com address (every kindle or kindle app has one - go to Manage My Kindle on Amazon if you don't know what yours is)
- They need to authorise YOUR email address to send it to them BEFORE you send it, or amazon will reject it.
